Scandinavians are one of the most stylish people in the world. Their minimalistic, clean and fashion forward style is inspiration for everybody, including me. So I decided to share with you the basics of Scandinavian style and inspire you too.
I’ve noticed that here the most important thing is to be comfortable. No high heels, no too much make up, everything is simple and clean. Considering that Nordic people have a very healthy lifestyle - running, cycling, doing sports, no matter if it’s summer or cold snowy winter, they need to stay comfy. So here are the main things I’ve noticed while living here about their style.
1. Flats and sneakers on a daily basis
At first when I came here I couldn’t really understand how can people mix a nice dress with sneakers, or going to a club with sneakers. But now I’m just the same. I absolutely never wear heels, no matter what I wear I always pair it with flats. It so comfortable and effortless and makes the look very European in my opinion.
As I said, they like to be comfortable. Loose shirts, dresses, coats - that’s so convenient and easy. Why trying hard wearing formfitting dresses and high heels when going to school or work? Do like Scandinavians - be comfortable and chic in the same time. The boxy size is good especially in the winter as you can layer up sweaters and shirts underneath your beautiful stylish coat.
People here wear mostly black, white, grey and blue. Clean cut and minimalism is the base of their way of dressing. Skinny jeans and white T-shirt paired with white Converse is an outfit you can see everybody wearing. I personally love that they don’t try too hard. The outfits are always simple, cool but extremely fashionable. Scandinavians are the masters of that.
I know- “What?!”. But they do it. Even though for me that’s absolutely unbelievable and I guess I wouldn’t do it, considering I’m coming from a warmer country and barely stand the winters here, I kind of admire this. After all they are Vikings right? I’m not even surprised anymore when I see them jumping in the sea after sauna when the temperature is like minus a lot… crazy people! Cropped pants are a huge trend for a few years now for both - men and women in general, and everybody wears them anyways. Sometimes paired with colorful socks, and sometimes without.
